Show-Me Less Plastic
The Missouri River Bird Observatory, in partnership with Stream Teams United, works to provide education and advocacy to reduce plastic use and pollution across Missouri. This project is supported by Missouri Foundation for Health.
Plastic is everywhere, which means there are countless ways to address it. If you’re interested in learning more about our program offerings, please reach out to showmelessplastic@mrbo.org.
Why Reduce Plastic?
Plastic Endangers Wildlife
Plastic exists in every ecosystem on Earth and endangers wildlife through ingestion, entanglement, and toxicity.
Plastic is Pollution
Plastic is made from fossil fuels with greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 200 coal-fired power plants.
Plastic is Toxic
Plastic contains over 16,000 chemicals, including those that cause cancer, disrupt hormones, and affect brain development.
How Can You Reduce Plastic?
Changing the industry requires collective action.
Reducing plastic production is ultimately the responsibility of the plastics industry. Individual action still matters to protect your household and begin contributing to the collective action.
